“The One Minute Entrepreneur” + Leadership+ Student Care = Successful Plan For Everyone

I read an interesting article in the The New York Times that talked about “The One Minute Entrepreneur” (Doubleday, 2008), the latest in the “One Minute” written by Ken Blanchard, and Ethan Willis. The article talked about many interesting things but discussed the following important areas from the book for success:

•Revenue needs to exceed expenses

•. Collect your bills. Don’t let your customers use you to increase their cash flow.

•Take care of your customers. “You work for them.”

•. Take care of your people.

And in the USA Today article added the following important points from “The One Minute Entrepreneur”:

“…A simple tale. But, as always, it never hurts to be reminded of the pitfalls on the path to success, or to reach a new generation with a message of hope. Here are some of their insights. (No wincing, please.):

•Don’t ever underestimate the importance of whom you choose to be with.

•You can get everything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.

•There are vast opportunities in selling when you’re selling something you believe in.

•Visualize your desired outcome ahead of time.

•Identify what you are passionate about doing. Look to do more of it. If nobody will pay you to do what you love, you have a hobby, not a career.

•If you don’t do what you love, you’ll never work hard enough to be the best.

•Never let your expenses outstrip your revenue.

•Profit is the applause you get for taking care of your customers and creating a motivating environment for your people.

•Work to balance your business life with the rest of your life.

•Continually seek the wisdom of your mentors.

•Pass on the prosperity from your passion. You’ll never be successful unless you help others. Helping others does not just involve financial gains from prosperity, but also includes sharing your time and talent.”

We know our students Learn through a team focused ideas, concrete frameworks, and practical strategies. Below are a few principles that we have found can have a life changing effect on people who need help in changing their lives Prosper, that each of us are lucky to be a part — our customers/students learn how to:

1) Recognizing opportunities, -Talking to our team of sales professionals, who  finds the right program for you and your needs.

2) Taking risks and innovation — the programs are an investment in you can lead to a more fulfilling life .

3) You can find the life you want by following exactly the approach by listening to the knowledge of your mentors and take action on those principles:

4) You develop a plan, in this case for success, and you figure out how to obtain it. Remember -When you’re faced with a problem, you can come up with a solution. In life, everything around you is a problem that has been solved.


I  love sharing and learning with  others through out my company and world on the above points so that  as a team  . We are  lucky to have leaders that are motivated by truth and integrity and coaches, sales, student,customer service and admin people “motivated and have a passion to for work and achievement of our students!”

That is why we have a remarkable, morally strong company, the reason is we have, a good understanding of the idea of personal integrity is essential.

Dr. Steve Carter explains integrity as a three-step process.

  1. Discerning what is right and what is wrong.
  2. Acting on what you have discerned, even at personal cost.
  3. Saying openly that you are acting on your understanding of right from wrong

I believe that we are continuing to try and create an environment for growth in the next generation of new  employees at Prosper; we will teach and show employees by example an optimistic view of the world . The reason I believe so strongly that attitude changes reality towards a positive direction is because I have seen it in my own life.

In the end  leaders must throw the stones of integrity and success, into the water . Hopefully our growing circles of influence will defeat the tidal wave of negative thinking in the world about everything!

We have started these ripples of true influence in the water of success, by clearly defining  who we are and what we stand  and how we can help others!

I know I  we  are not perfect, but we are trying to strive to become a great company and improving every year and learning from the past.  I know that I can help one student at a time and make a difference  for perhaps a life time( See Starfish story)

I am humbled daily by my fellow team members and our students  hard work and perseverance!

    I haven’t had a chance to read through the entire book, but I have enjoyed The One Minute Entrepreneur so far!

    Here are some insights:

    In the US, 1 million businesses started each year. 40% fail within one year. 80% fail by the fifth year. 96% have failed by year 10.

    Primary reason for failure: “they are started by technicians – people who are skilled at something and who enjoy doing that thing…. They make the fatal mistake of continuing to do the work they’re skilled at while ignoring other vital parts of the business.” – Michael Gerber

    “We are becoming the average of the five people with whom we are most closely associated…. [We should] associate with people we admire and can learn from.”

    “You can get what you want in life if you help other people get what they want.”

    “Success occurs when opportunity and preparation meet.”

    “Profit is the applause you get for taking care of your customers and creating a motivating environment for your people.”

    “The best management includes day-to-day coaching that catches people doing things right and redirects their efforts when they are off base.”
